Service of Process

Please Note:

Until further notice, the Department will accept service of process Mondays and Wednesdays between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. If you have any questions regarding service of process, please contact the Office of Regulatory Affairs, 609-292-7272, or send an e-mail to: legsregs@dobi.nj.gov

The Commissioner of Banking and Insurance is authorized to accept initial service of process on all foreign insurers admitted in the 星空无限传媒app, certain banking institutions and non-resident licensees in any civil action brought in any court of this State.

All NJ Admitted Insurance Companies
Bulletin 03-07: Designation of Individual to Receive Service of Process
(NAIC Uniform Consent to Service of Process form)

In order to effectuate such service, the following items must be included:

The exact name of the entity being served;
One copy of the Summons and Complaint;
A check in the amount of $30.00, payable to the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance;
And a stamped, self-addressed envelope.

Please Note -The Commissioner is not authorized to accept the following:

Any court documents other than initial service of process, such as subpoenas, motions, etc.;
Service on behalf of insurers domiciled in New Jersey. Such domestic insurers may be served directly, through the appropriate County Sheriff's Office;
Service on behalf of insurance groups. You must provide the name of the individual company;
Service on behalf of Federally-chartered financial institutions.
