TRENTON Celebrating its 15th year, the Department of Human Services鈥 Division of Family Development will hold its annual Teen Media Contest to reinforce the Department鈥檚 mission to instill an understanding of parental responsibility in teens.聽 The statewide contest is open to all New Jersey middle and high school students.
This Year's Theme...
This year鈥檚 theme is: Depict how your parent(s) help you define 鈥渉ome鈥.聽 Students鈥 hand-drawn submissions should illustrate what home means to them.聽 Examples are watching basketball with mom or cooking chili with dad.

"Since 1995, the NJ Department of Human Services has given teens a reason to think about their own parents to understand the emotional and financial commitment it takes to be a parent 鈥 and in this year鈥檚 contest, what it takes to make a home." said Jeanette Page-Hawkins, director of the Division of Family Development.聽 "But most importantly, this annual event brings young people鈥檚 attention to the realities of teen parenting and how it would impact their futures.鈥

All entries must be postmarked no later than Friday, April 9, 2010.聽 Staff from the Division of Family Development and its Office of Child Support Services will judge the contest.
