Together with the Department of Labor and Workforce Development鈥檚 Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (DVRS), the Department of Human Services provides Supported Employment for people with developmental disabilities. DDD eligible individuals who receive these services, or who work part-time, also can receive a DDD-funded day service to supplement a part-time schedule.

To maximize competitive employment choices for consumers, DDD and DVRS provide funding for the initial phases of employment including pre-placement and training.聽 Once an individual is employed and the DVRS supports have ended, DDD is able to provide continued funding for follow-along services that assist the person in maintaining employment.
DDD funds services through contracts with private vendors and through agencies qualified to provide services to individuals participating in Self Directed Services.
Additionally, through NJ Workability, consumers are able to work and still retain important safety net benefits such as Medicaid, Social Security Income or Social Security Disability Insurance.
