TRENTON – The Department of Human Services will host three public hearings to give New Jersey residents the opportunity to provide input into the for services to senior citizens through the year 2017.State Units on Aging are required to submit service plans to the U.S. Administration on Aging every four years.  The plans detail service needs, establish priorities, and outline how each state plans to utilize federal Older Americans Act and state funding to accomplish established goals.

Anyone interested in senior issues may attend the hearings.  Oral testimony will be limited to a maximum of five minutes per speaker; written testimony can be submitted at the hearing or can be mailed prior to June 1, 2013, to the attention of Deputy Director Nancy E. Day, New Jersey Department of Human Services’ Division of Aging Services, P.O. Box 807, Trenton, NJ 08625-0807. 

Individuals needing special accommodations at the hearings are asked to call 609-943-3422. 

The hearings are scheduled as follows:

  • Thursday, April 18, 2013, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Egg Harbor Township Community Center, 5045 English Creek Avenue, Egg Harbor Township.
  • Friday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Monmouth County Agricultural Building, 4000 Kozloski Road, Freehold.
  • Friday, May 3, 2013, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the Rahway Senior Center, 1306 Esterbrook Avenue, Rahway.
