Troopers Arrest Man With Submachine Gun
Bridgeton City, N.J. - On Sunday, January 12, Troopers from the New Jersey State Police Bridgeton Station
found a submachine gun and hollow point rounds during a motor vehicle stop on East Avenue.
While patrolling East Avenue, on Sunday, January 12, in Bridgeton City, Troopers Michael Muckley and Luis Rivera
Guzman stopped a silver Dodge Caravan for failure to stop at a stop sign. While speaking with the driver, Raheem
Jacobs, 25, of Bridgeton City, Trooper Muckley observed the handle of a gun protruding from underneath the driver’s seat.
The troopers immediately removed Jacobs from the vehicle and recovered a .40 caliber submachine gun loaded with
hollow point rounds.
Jacobs was arrested and transported to Bridgeton Station. The vehicle was impounded and towed to Buena Vista
Headquarters for further investigation. At the station, troopers discovered that the weapon was stolen out of Florida.
Jacobs was charged with Possession of Weapons for Unlawful Purposes, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Receiving
Stolen Property, Possession of Prohibited Weapons and Devices, and Possession of Hollow Point Ammunition.
Jacobs was lodged in the Cumberland County Jail in default of $100,000.00 full cash bail.
On Wednesday, January 15, troopers executed a search warrant on the vehicle and found a .38 caliber revolver
with hollow point rounds and a high capacity magazine containing 29 .40 caliber rounds. Jacobs was
additionally charged with Unlawful Possession of a Handgun, Possession of a High Capacity Magazine,
Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and Possession of Hollow Point Ammunition.
