Union Twp, Union County, N.J. - Attorney General Jeffrey S. Chiesa and State Police Superintendent Colonel Joseph R. Fuentes today announced
that the New Jersey State Police will begin accepting applications from trooper candidates this upcoming Monday. Applications will be accepted online from
May 7th through May 29th. Interested men and women should visit to complete the online application.
The Attorney General and Superintendent made the announcement to Criminal Justice students at Kean University in Union. Today’s trooper can create a personalized
career path by focusing on individual skills and areas of personal interest, while also working to ensure the public’s safety. The New Jersey State Police have not
accepted applications since February 2010. All eligible men and women should take advantage of this opportunity.
"From community policing to homeland security, aviation to marine law enforcement, crime scene forensics to cyber investigations, the New Jersey State Police
has a specialty area that is sure to suit an applicant’s unique skills and interests," said Attorney General Chiesa. "We’re looking for bright, energetic men and
women who have demonstrated responsibility and character and are up to the challenge to be their best."

Here are the minimum requirements to apply:
- Applicants must be at least 21 years old and must not reach their 35th birthday prior to the graduation of their State Police class.
- Applicants must have: (1) a bachelor's degree; OR (2) a minimum of 90 college credits currently and complete their degree by a specified
date prior to the written examination; OR (3) an associate's degree or 60 college credits, PLUS at least 24 months of satisfactory employment
or military experience; OR (4) 30 college credits, PLUS at least 24 months of active duty military service with an honorable discharge.
