State Police Charge Woman
in Death of DOT Worker

Bellmawr, NJ - The woman at the wheel of a Dodge Magnum that struck an Emergency Service Patrol truck, killing a DOT worker and injuring two others, today turned herself in to state troopers to receive criminal charges for the crash. Alyson Amour, 28, of Berlin, N.J. was charged with vehicular homicide and two counts of aggravated assault. She arrived at Bellmawr State Police Station this morning with her lawyer, Leonard Baker. After processing by troopers, Amour turned herself in to Camden County Corrections in default of $100,000 cash, or bond. On January 11, 2010 shortly after 1:00 p.m., Alyson Amour, driving a 2005 Dodge Magnum, went onto the shoulder and struck Joseph Kealey, 45 of Lindenwold, who was standing at the rear of his marked NJ DOT Emergency truck on state highway 76 southbound in Bellmawr. The DOT vehicle was forced into a disabled minivan causing injuries to the two occupants, Gina Tricoche and Bridgette Wilson. All three injured were taken to Cooper Hospital, where Kealey was pronounced a short time later. Troopers at the scene of the crash discovered wax paper folds (typically used to package heroin) and a syringe in Amour's Magnum. Lab tests of her blood found the presence of morphine. She was charged that evening with motor vehicle summonses including driving while intoxicated. Detective Sergeant Brian Smith of the State Police Troop A Criminal Investigations Office has pursued the case since the crash. To bring about these charges, DSG Smith worked with the Camden County Prosecutor's Office and numerous State Police units including the Fatal Accident Investigation Unit and the Crime Scene South Unit.
