State Police Arrest Four in Connection
With Cape May County Home Invasion

Dennis Township, N.J. - An intense, three-week investigation by the New Jersey State Police has led to the arrest of three men and one woman in connection with a home invasion robbery and brutal beating of a Cape May County man.

On Wednesday, September 18, at approximately 2:00 a.m., troopers from Woodbine Station responded to a residence on Corson Tavern road for a home invasion. The male victim told responding troopers that three men forced their way into his home and assaulted him. After beating the victim, the suspects stole cash and then fled in a vehicle. The victim received lacerations to his head, a broken rib, and bruises throughout his body.

Over the next few weeks, detectives from the Troop "A" Criminal Investigation Office made significant progress in the case and identified four suspects. On Thursday, October 3, Kayla Twyman, 25, of Ocean City was arrested in Ocean City. On Friday, October 4, George Poteat, 23, of Egg Harbor Township was arrested in Pleasantville and Mark Rolls, 25 of Ocean City was arrested in Ocean City. On Monday, October 7, co-conspirator Timothy Nixon, 25, of Ocean City turned himself in to Woodbine detectives.

Detectives learned that the suspects were acquainted with the victim and that this was not a random act. The investigation continues into possible motives for the attack.

All subjects were charged with:

  • Robbery
  • Aggravated Assault
  • Burglary
  • Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose
  • Unlawful possession of a Weapon
