The body of a woman was discovered on the banks of Newbold Island on the Delaware River (just off the Mansfield Twp. shoreline) by a kayaker on Saturday afternoon, November 14th.  The death is being investigated by the New Jersey State Police Major Crimes Unit and Bordentown Station detectives.  The woman has not yet been identified

She is described as being 18 to 24 years old, having dark hair, 5'02", approximately 120 pounds.  She has two distinctive tattoos, one on the shoulder blade of a phoenix and one on an ankle of flowers.  Her race is unknown.

The Burlington County Medical Examiner's Office performed an autopsy on Sunday, November 15th.  The cause and manner of death have not yet been determined.  The results of toxicology tests are still pending.

Evidence indicates that the woman's body was been in the water for less than one week.
