Dominicans Living in the U.S. Seeking More Information About Loved Ones Impacted by the Disaster Are Encouraged to Call the Government-Sponsored Helpline at 1-800-969-0677

TRENTON, NJ 鈥 Governor Murphy, Lieutenant Governor Way, and the New Jersey Puerto Rico Commission today extended their sincere condolences to the families and loved ones impacted by the collapse of the rooftop of a prominent nightclub in the Dominican Republic.

In the early hours of Tuesday, April 8, 2025, the roof of Santo Domingo鈥檚 Jet Set nightclub 鈥 the oldest running nightclub in the country 鈥 collapsed during a live concert. The collapse killed over 220 people and injured over 200 individuals.

鈥淭ammy and I are devastated by the roof collapse at Jet Set nightclub in Santo Domingo, which claimed the lives of over 200 people,鈥 said Governor Phil Murphy. 鈥淣ew Jersey is home to a large and vibrant Dominican community and I know this tragedy hits home for many of our residents. 鈥淥ur Administration is monitoring this developing situation closely, and we stand in solidarity with the Dominican community on the island and Stateside, as they navigate this tragic loss of life,鈥 said Lieutenant Governor Tahesha Way, who oversees the Puerto Rico Commission in her capacity as Secretary of State.
