This endorsement authorizes the holder to teach the following in all public schools:
- Business-related software applications
- Emerging hardware and operating systems
- Exploration of related business occupations
- File management
- Legal issues related to computer use
- Safety and security policies pertaining to computer use
Subject Matter Preparation
Credit Requirements
A minimum of 30 semester-hour credits in a coherent sequence in the subject field of business. At least 12 of the 30 semester-hour credits must be at the advanced level of study (junior, senior or graduate level).
The 30 semester-hour credits must include at least 12 semester-hour credits in any of the following areas:
- Business computer programming
- Business-related computer classes
- Computer management
- Computer networks in business
- Computer science
- Database concepts for business
- Database development for business
- Decision support systems for business
- Information management
- Management information systems
- Systems analysis
Coursework Examples
- Accounting
- Computer or information management
- Computer science
- Economics
- System analysis or design
The final determination as to which courses will be counted towards the subject matter is based on content standards found in the New Jersey Student Learning Standards.
Courses in pedagogy or education are not acceptable.
