Healthy Corner Store Initiative

Operated by with sponsorship and funding from the Department of Health, the works to improve access to healthy food and beverages in underserved communities where people live and who are experiencing chronic disease including obesity, heart disease and stroke and diabetes. The Healthy Corner Store Initiative has introduced more than 1,000 healthy items in participating NJ WIC small corner stores.

WIC

The NJ Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) provides wholesome food, nutrition education and community support to income-eligible women who are pregnant and post-partum, infants and children up to five years old.

Services and Support

The Department of Health funds outreach initiatives that improve fitness or access to nutrition in schools, private workplaces, and in various community settings throughout the state.
