Stillwater Township, N.J. - Troopers from Sussex Station arrested Michael Losey, 21, of Newton, N.J., just hours after he allegedly wielded a knife while robbing a liquor store.
On Monday, July 27, at 6:54 p.m., troopers responded to a 911 call reporting an armed robbery at a liquor store on County Road 521. The victim, who was working the cash register during the robbery, was able to provide a detailed description of the suspect.
The victim told troopers that a man entered the store, brandished a knife, and demanded cash before reaching into the register and grabbing several hundred dollars. The suspect was described as approximately 5’10”, 200 pounds, wearing a grey sweatshirt, camouflage shorts, and a blue cloth that covered his face. He was seen fleeing in a dark-colored Chevrolet sedan.
Through various investigative means, troopers were able to identify Michael Losey as a possible suspect. At approximately 9:00 p.m., Losey was located driving a dark-blue Chevrolet Impala, with an adult woman and three children, near his residence. After a brief investigation, he was arrested and transported to Sussex Station.
Michael Losey was charged with robbery (1st degree), unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, endangering the welfare of children, and theft. He was lodged at the Sussex County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail with no 10% option. A portion of the money was recovered and efforts will continue to obtain the remaining evidence.
Charges are mere accusations and the suspect is considered innocent until proven guilty.
