Lodi, N.J. - Detectives from the New Jersey State Police Major Crime Unit and the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit are seeking the public’s assistance with a fatal shooting that occurred on Interstate 80 in Bergen County.
On Saturday, January 18, at approximately 12:16 a.m., Louis Perez, 27, of New York, N.Y, was driving a Honda Civic westbound on Interstate 80. In the area of milepost 64.4, an unknown vehicle pulled alongside Perez's Honda and fired several gunshots, striking Perez and a front seat passenger.
Perez sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The front seat passenger sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital where he was last listed in stable condition.
